MAY BREAKDOWN
Instore tastings every Saturday 2 to 6. glasses.gif
This month we make sure to include 2 pinks along with the reds/whites.

This Saturday:
Old World rose vs. New World rose
Spicy Southern French red and
we'll pour some of Mother's Day delights

It Began in the summer 2003 as a idea to gain respect and due recognition.
Pink Power! Power to the Rosés of the world and to those who drink them.
Times were tough but we stuck it out.
Folks turned their back on us, some smirked and others pointed and laughed.
But we held our head high and glasses high.
We had hope and a vision of a brighter future.
We knew their reactions stemmed from a lack of rosé education and preconceived notions.

In 2006 the Pink Posse was formed and the idea became a movement.
The mission: to abolish pink prejudice and to promote equality between wines of all color.
Knowledge was our weapon and the tasting events were our battlefield.
As more people tasted and understood, more people saw the pink light.
The Rosé Revolution had begun.
There was excitement stirring and attitudes began changing.
Folks were happy to see pink wines and began including them in their everyday lives.
Even the haters began taking a second look with an eyebrow raised.

And then in 2007 things got serious with Operation Pink.
No longer an underground movement, no longer a second thought. Rosé was a formidable presence in the wine world and was ready to advance to the next level. The campaigning was relentless and the pink preaching never stopped. We laughed, we cried, we drank, and we drank some more. Now our time has finally come. The giant rosé ship has landed and Planet Pink has been colonized.
Come join us, dive in and celebrate.
We have overcome.
Rosé washes over this land in harmony with it's red and white brothers and sisters.

Tablas Creek

A little history

Tablas creek is a joint venture started in the late 80's by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of  Vineyard Brands. They purchased 120 acres 12 miles from the Pacific in west Paso Robles. They chose land that had the most similarities  as Beaucastel's home in Chateauneauf de Pape. calcareous clay soil, steep terraced slopes, hot days and cool nights. In 1990 vines of Mourvédre, Grenache Noir, Syrah, Counoise, Roussanne, Viognier, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc were imported from their French estate.  After nursing, planting and constructing a winery, the 1997 vintage was introduced into the market as Chateaunuef inspired blends. All wines from Tablas Creek are hand harvested from their organic vineyards and only native yeasts are used during fermentation.
winemaker Neil Collins has been with the estate from the beginning managing the vineyards and crafting around twenty different Rhone style bottlings from
Roussanne
to Counoise to the most esteemed Esprit de Beaucastel

Rosé
the rose first hit in 1999 and Neil tells me it has always been mainly Mourvèdre and always this intense. The rest of the make up is Grenache and Counoise. This is not a dainty rose. Big pink couilles on this one. I've been calling it the perfect  transition wine from reds to summer roses with its rich pink color and explosive spicy fruit flavors. This is a rose meal within itself but I’ve been pondering all of the amazing grilled, smoked, slathered, fried, dripping proteins I’m going chomp on with Tablas pink by my side
.
