Although Robert Denison shies away from call his company a dating service, DINNER FOR SIX could be a single person’s entrée to an interesting, even intimate relationship. Billed as “Good Food, Good Conversation, Good Times,” DINNER FOR SIX is a dining club that takes members to different restaurants and introduces them to an array of dinner companions. Denison, who has a master’s degree in psychology and his staff arrange dinner parties of six people- three men and three women- based on their interest and lifestyles derived from personality profiles. He and his staff make the reservations and arrive at the restaurants to introduce the diners-first name only-before leaving the six to their own devices. “This is an outlet for me,” says Denison, “I like to help people.” Not at all reluctant to reject applicants if “they aren’t a good match,” Denison estimates he has turned down more than 10 percent of would-be members. Membership cost $595 (for the first year and about half to renew), plus a $15 fee per dinner. Denison long-term goal is to expand this nationwide.
